Endangered Status for Salado, Georgetown, Jollyville Plateau, and Austin Blind Salamanders in Central Texas

Abstract: FWS will finalize the rule to list four species of Texas salamanders pursuant to the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. These species occur in springs, spring-related features, and cave features supported by the Edwards Aquifer in Bell, Travis, and Williamson Counties of Texas. We will list Jollyville Platue and Austin Blind salamanders. However, a six month extension has been invoked for the listing determination for two species of Texas salamanders, the Georgetown and Salado. Critical habitat is under 1018-AZ24.
