The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced it is accepting public comments about “modified risk tobacco product applications (MRTPAs)” regarding three different Marlboro Heatsticks models. MRTPs are tobacco products sold for use to reduce harm or the risk of tobacco-related disease associated with commercially marketed tobacco products. The FD&C Act prohibits interstate commerce of any MRTP unless a product-specific order is issued by the agency. Comments on Philip Morris’ Heatsticks application are due by December 12, 2017.
